It can be difficult to keep track of the endless list of tasks you have to complete as a business owner or executive. Having an organized method and strategy to plan the deadlines is critical if you want your business to thrive.

One of the main reasons a business fails is because of lack of organization, focus, and time management. These characteristics are the glue that will keep your business afloat, especially in the first 5 years. If you do not possess these qualities, hire someone on your team that does. If you work as a solopreneur, take courses on how to become better at these three qualities; you will need them. You will not achieve these skills overnight. They take practice and much effort. 

Useful tips for improving focus, organization, and time management are 1) Eliminate distractions. Keep your devices on “do not disturb” or turn notifications off during certain work hours. 2) Get 7-8 hours of sleep each night. 3) Stay hydrated and nourished. 4) Time block on your calendar. 5) Manage your energy levels. If you have more energy in the morning, complete your most challenging tasks in the morning. 6) Take regular breaks throughout the day. Move around. Too much screen time/blue light causes fatigue and loss of mental clarity. 

Forward thinking is another skill that must be practiced as a leader and decision maker. Having a vision is one of the first things we learn when creating a business plan. When planning for tasks or projects, start by documenting what the scope of the project or task is, when it needs to be completed, who you need on your team, and what roadblocks you might come across. Then, put clear focus and attention on completing milestones each month or quarter to get the project complete.

Example; by the end of the year, the goal is to increase followers on social media to 1000 viewers. This in turn may result in more leads, conversions, and revenue. The steps needed to reach the goal is to increase posts, reels, stories, and pay for Google and Facebook advertisements. Then, nurture the leads to convert them to paying clients. Will need a marketing consultant to assist with posting and tracking the data via report generator to determine what is or is not working.
